My Counselling Approach

I am an integrative counsellor, this means that I am able to draw my theoretical knowledge from the counselling approaches of existential, cognitive behavioural (CBT), humanistic and psychodynamic.

I work with this knowledge, offering counselling that emphasises the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor, whilst using skills and techniques that are appropriate for each individual. I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults and counselling for children and young people.

Counselling

- can be both short and long term, supporting and facilitating individuals to cope with life changes, overwhelming feelings and transitions.

Psychotherapy

- is generally longer term and more in depth and may be more helpful for psychological problems that have built up over years. The process of working at a greater depth allows insight and understanding of the identity and personality, bringing awareness to support change.

Issues worked with:

Stress, anxiety, loss & grief, relationships, depression, self harm, eating/food issues, self-esteem, abuse, trauma, anger, work related issues and personal development.
